# How does the CO₂ cartridge work?

The cartridge contains highly compressed CO₂, which is essential for inflating the airbag vest. In the event of a fall, the lanyard disconnects from the saddle, triggering the firing mechanism that pierces the cartridge and releases the gas. The airbag’s membrane inflates within milliseconds, absorbing impact forces to protect the rider upon contact with the ground.
